It’s Always Sunny in Maryland

26 04 2009

It’s 90 degrees again in College Park but that’s not stopping the music from coming.

So at the tail end of last week’s show, I played a song by a group called We’re All Wolves and said I’d elaborate.  The song, called “Turnpikes,” is completely comprised by my friend Paul, (amazing drummer, horrible human being) who started the group as a solo project, but now is making it a full-on group (he also drums for Straight To Film).  He’s recording on and off and has promised me an EP in the coming weeks so I’m looking forward to having that for you guys soon.

In other news, the mailroom was locked today so I couldn’t see if any new music came or not, but there should be some in there — more on that in the future.  But until then, go pick up NOFX’s new one.  It’s amazing.

As for tonight’s show, a new NOFX track, and also the new Gallows single, so be there or… download it later.  That’s fine too.
Keep it fresh

Is it 1998?

16 04 2009

So what I’m about to write about may or may not sound like a Kerrang article from 1998 but I really don’t care because I’m excited.
First things first.  Blink182 news!  Mark quickly blogged about the new MCS album he is producing, but more importantly about the reunion, and even posted a picture.  I couldn’t be more excited.  Then he dropped a tweet ending with “why’d we break up, again?”  Jesus I wish I knew…

NOFX put another new song out there, this time on  The song’s called “Creeping Out Sara,” and is about an encounter Fat Mike had with Sara of Tegan and Sara.  I have a long-standing theory that when punks get old, their best songs are about their friends (Roger Miret’s “1984,” NOFX’s entire War On Errorism, Dropkick’s “Wicked Sensitive Crew” etc.) and this is a really good example of that.  He just name drops a few friends and tells a story about asking if Sara knew anyone selling blow.  It’s classy.

Also, Green Day has their new single up for purchase on iTunes, but I don’t support the whole “iTunes exclusive thing” so I’m not linking it up.
Take it easy guys

It’s raining…

15 04 2009

It’s raining here in College Park, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a few quick updates:
So yea… I missed my show.  I updated the playlist so go look it up and make yourself a playlist so you could imagine what the show would have sounded like.  My witty banter not included.

In case you’ve been hiding under a rock, some of the stalwarts of the scene have been busy making some new music so go here to check out Rancid’s new single ‘Last One To Die,’ and here to listen to a new demo from the Ataris called ‘All Souls Day.’  The latter are promising a return to their Blue Skies, Broken Hearts days, so let’s keep our fingers crossed for the rest of the album to sound like the demo (It’s good).

Also, for those of you in the College Park area, my good friends in Straight to Film are performing tomorrow in the Baltimore Room of Stamp at 6:30.  It’s in SEE’s battle of the bands, the winner of which will get to play Art Attack and open up for Ludacris… Really I just wanna see what Paul would do while drinking with Luda.

Thanks for everything guys, and hopefully I’ll have some exciting news soon.

Lack of Activity

11 04 2009

So I am extremely sorry for the lack of updates lately but I promise all that’s going to change.  Without getting too much into it, school, internship, job, housing, recession blah blah blah…. It will change!  I have some new records (hopefully) coming, some new interviews (including an old one with Matt from Matt and Kim) and lots of exciting stuff.

So listen up to the show this week becasue I’ll be playing the new Rancid track, a new Ataris demo, as well as looking at a few new signings to Fat.  I’m back and it’s gonna be fun kids.  Thanks as always.
